P518T
Antique Advertising (GROCERS) Tobacco Cutter For sale is a antique tobacco cutter. The cutter is marked on the bottom manufactured by T.C. Johnson company Quincy, IL. On the sides of the cutter it is marked GEO.R.NEWELL & Co. Wholesale Grocers Minneapolis Minn. I was told by the previous owner that this company was the forerunner of Super Valu Foods. There is also a patent date on the top side of the base, Patented Dec. 1 1914. The cutter is made of cast iron and is in original condition. The base appears to have been painted black(original) and the upper part appears to have been plated(original) with possibly nickel. The finish is worn with age. There is some rust(not horrible) most notably to the blade. The cutter is not damaged in any way only surface wear consistent with its age. The cutter is approximately 16 inches in total length and stands approximately 9 inches with the widest part being approximately 4 1/2 inches. Shipping with insurance will be $18.00 in the Continental USA.
