Antique JAPANESE Lacquer Box
For sale is a Japanese antique lacquer box with a scene painted on the top with people. The scene is very detailed and well done with gold work. I believe the box to date around the late 19th century or very early 20th century. The box has some overall chipping to the lacquer work including the painted scene. There is also a crackling (alligatoring) of the painted scene due to age. This is a very nice looking box that has mellowed well with age and is not meant for the person who wants it to look like it is new. I have not touched the box in anyway and am not sure if the scene could be cleaned up by a professional as it looks somewhat darkened. The box is approximately 7 inches long and has a width of approximately 6 inches and a height of approximately 2 1/4 inches. Shipping with insurance will be $13.00 in the Continental USA.
