Offered is a large beautiful Capodimonte covered box. I believe the box dates to around 1900. The box is unmarked but has all the attributes of a Capodimonte piece. The bottom of the box is unglazed. Box measures approximately 8 1/4 inches long and has a width of approximately 5 3/4 inches with a depth of approximately 3 1/2 inches (with cover). Box has a small factory missed glaze spot in the corner of the inside of the box(towards front). I believe the top porcelain lid was reglued to the metal rim at one point as the original adhesive deteriorated with age. When rim was reglued I think the hinge came slightly out of alignment. Box stays closed when lid is shut. Gold colored metal is oxidized as would be expected from a piece this age. There is minor gilt wear, not bad. Other than the minor issues I have described due primarily to age the piece is in excellent condition with no chips cracks or repairs. Shipping with insurance and handling will be $16.00 in the Continental USA. |
