Bull Terrier dog original 1952 German card. This very pretty single original card,(on thin paper),was issued in Germany by the Austria Tobacco Co. in 1952 and is from a set of 150 cards entitled "Kamerad Hund" "(Our Friend the Dog)". A special album was available at the time for these cards to be stuck into for display and unusually for these this card has not been stuck into an album at all. The front of the card shows an artist drawn picture and the back has a brief description of the breed in German. It measures 4.5 inches by 3.5 inches approx and is in very good condition although it does have on the reverse many areas of blotching/dullness which can mainly be seen when the card is held at an angle to the light....they do not interefere with the legibility of the text at all. English Bull Terrier dog original unusual 1936 UK card. This very pretty unusual single original card was issued in 1936 in the UK by Hignetts and comes from a set entitled "Dogs".This single card has printed text on the reverse relating to the breed pictured.It measures 2.75 inches by 1.5 inches approx and is in very good condition,(it is difficult to find in this condition).The image and text are a little clearer than the scan shows them to be.The printed text on the reverse of this card reads as follows....."The Bull Terrier originated in the days of dog fighting, when the then leggy Bulldogs were crossed with terriers to produce an active, courageous dog for the "pit." The white variety was first bred by James Hinks of Birmingham, probably by crossing with the old White English Terrier, and, possibly, with Pointers and Dalmatians. Latterly, coloured Bull Terriers have become very popular, and Staffordshires (an old type, but new to the show ring, and chiefly kept by a few breeders in the Potteries) have recently appeared on the bench. Bull Terrier dog original unusual 1930's card. This very pretty original hard to find trade card was issued in Europe in the 1930’s.The image was used by a few different firms. This card was meant to be stuck into an album which was available at the time but this card is unusual in that it has never been so used.....it has printed text in Dutch on the reverse. It measures 3.25 inches by 2 inches approx. It is in very good condition.The image and the lettering are a little clearer than the scan shows them to be.  

Bull Terrier puppies 1939 photographic UK card. This very pretty single original photographic card was issued in 1939 in the UK for Senior Service cigarettes by the firm Pattreiouex Ltd.It is from a 48 card series entitled "Dogs".It has printed text on the reverse giving brief details re the breed and some more general hints re rearing etc of dogs.It measures 3 inches by 2 inches approx.It is in very good condition but as is normal for these there is a degree of disturbance,(light lines etc) on the surface of the photographic gloss which can be seen when the card is held at an angle to the light.The image and the text are a little clearer than the scan shows them to be.  

Bull Terrier large European cigar band. This very pretty large cigar band with the image of a Bull Terrier was issued by T.S.H.Hippo in Europe in the last few years.It is more detailed than the scan shows it to be.It measures 4 inches by 2 inches approx.It is in very good condition and has the name of the breed,a small amount of text in Dutch and a number printed on the back.Cigar bands are a large collecting field with many manufacturers producing sets of various topics.....we have a fair selection of cigar bands featuring dogs which we hope to list over the coming weeks/months.  

Bull Terrier head study original 1950's Dutch card. This very pretty original card was issued in the 1950's in Holland by the United Tobacco Agencies,(UTA). The card was actually printed on to the packet itself and had to be cut out from there. A special album was available and this card has been removed from one leaving some gum and paper residue on the reverse.The card itself measures 2 inches by 3 inches approx. It has a thin on the reverse which in no way affects the image.......the image is clearer than the scan shows it to be.

This very pretty original single trade card was issued in the United Kingdom in 1988 as part of a set of cards entitled "Dogs" "2nd series".Printed text on the reverse relates to the issuer which was "Cofton Collections".It measures 2.75 inches by 1.5 inches approx.It is in very good condition and the actual image on the card is a little clearer than the scan shows it to be.  

Bull Terrier v.nice original 1938 UK uncommon card. This is a very nice original uncommon card and it was issued in 1938 in the UK for Ardath Tobacco Co. Ltd.It measures 3.75 inches by 2.75 inches approx.It is from a set of 25 cards entitled "Dog Studies"...."A Series of 25 Reproduced from Photo Etchings". The card was given as a free premium in a packet of 25 State Express or Ardath Cigarettes. The back of the card has printed details of the breed pictured.This card is in very good condition.... the actual image on the card is a little clearer than the scan shows it to be.The printed text on the reverse of this card reads as follows....."The Bull Terrier is a product of the days when dog-fighting was popular and was, it is presumed, bred from the Bulldog and one of the Terrier family with the aim of combining the courage of the former with the activity of the latter. The modern Bull Terrier is strongly built, muscular and very powerful for his size. While of determined character he is amenable to discipline and forms an ideal house dog. Not the least of his charms is his intense love of children. Possessing tremendous strength and agilty, these animals are usually pure white, but the coloured Bull Terrier or white with brindle patches, finds favour in certain quarters." English Bull Terrier rare 1924 original UK card. This very pretty single card of a white English Bull Terrier was issued in 1924 in England for Major Drapkin and Co. which was a branch of the United Kingdom Tobacco Co.Ltd. This rare single card is from a set of cards entitled "Dogs And Their Treatment". The front of the card shows an artist drawn picture of an English Bull Terrier and the back has brief printed details relating to general dog ownership,(the details were supplied courtesy of Spratt's Dog Foods). The card measures 2.5 inches by 3 inches.It is in very good condition which is most unusual for these and the image is a little clearer than the scan shows it to be.This particular card was issued in 2 sizes and this is the larger and also the more difficult to find.  

Bull Terrier Lucy Dawson reproduction 1990 card. This very pretty single card depicting a Bull Terrier called "James" is a reproduction of the original late 1930's card issued by W.D.& H.O.Wills from their 40 card series entitled "Puppies"......the set never made it in to general circulation because of the onset of the 2nd World War and paper rationing .The images were drawn by Lucy Dawson,(also known as "Mac"),who was a very much admired dog artist in her day and who is still well known today. The reproduction set from which this card is taken was issued in 1990 by Imperial Publishing Ltd in England. It has printed comments on the reverse by Lucy Dawson relating to the dog/s pictured........please click on the smaller image to the left which will bring up a scan of the rear,(the printing and image are clearer on the card than the scans shows them to be).
