Japanese Chin Spaniel dog original 1952 German card. This very pretty single original card,(on thin paper),was issued in Germany by the Austria Tobacco Co. in 1952 and is from a set of 150 cards entitled "Kamerad Hund" "(Our Friend the Dog)". A special album was available at the time for these cards to be stuck into for display and unusually for these this card has not been stuck into an album at all. The front of the card shows an artist drawn picture and the back has a brief description of the breed in German. It measures 4.5 inches by 3.5 inches approx and is in very good condition. Japanese Chin Spaniel year 2000 label/stamp. This very pretty label/stamp was issued for East Timor in the year 2000,(even though it looks like a postage stamp,in that it has perforations,gum on the reverse etc),it is probably not one in that it was never designed to perform a postal duty.It also has a cancellation mark on it that was very probably applied at the printers.It measures 1 inch by 2 inches approx and is in very good condition. Japanese Chin Spaniel dog original playing card. This very pretty single playing card was recently issued in China. This single playing card measures 4.75 inches by 3.5 inches approx. It is in very good condition although it does have a few small area of surface disturbance...please see the scan. The image and the text are a little clearer than the scan shows them to be.

This very pretty single playing card has been taken from a recently issued deck of cards from China.It measures 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches approx.It is in very good condition although it does have a small black mark on the dogs chest....please see the scan.The image and text are clearer/sharper than the scan shows them to be.

Japanese Chin dog rare Cecil Aldin 1912 UK card. This is a very rare original single card from the 1912 set of 50 cards issued by Cope Brothers and Co. and illustrated by the famous artist Cecil Aldin.The image and the text are a little clearer than the scan shows them to be.The set is entitled "Dogs of the World".This card is in very good condition which is most unusual for these although it does have a light corner knock at the bottom right....please see the scan.It measures 2.75 inches by 1.5 inches and has printed details relating to the breed and some brief details as to the artist Cecil Aldin on the reverse where he is decribed as the "most celebrated modern painter of horses and dogs".Some brief biographical details as to Cecil Aldin are as follows,(not printed on the back of the cards)....he was born in 1870 and died in 1935,a fairly prolific painter especially of dogs.The Irish Wolfhound image in this series is supposedly of his own dog "Mickie".A good few of the breeds illustrated were not common at all in Great Britain at that time,(the paintings would probably have been done around the 1910/1911 period).The printed text on the reverse of this card reads as follows....."The Japanese, as its name implies, came originally from Japan, where it is known as the "Sleeve Dog". It makes a charming pet, its general appearance of quaintness, perkiness and dignity, making it very showy and attractive. The colour of the Japanese is usually white, with more or less black markings. Its coat is profuse, long, straight, rather silky and free from curl or wave." Japanese Chin Spaniel original 1950's Dutch card. This very pretty original card was issued in the 1950's in Holland by the United Tobacco Agencies,(UTA). The card was actually printed on to the packet itself and had to be cut out from there. A special album was available and this card has been removed from one such album by cutting around the frame on the page leaving the name of the breed readable. The card itself measures 2 inches by 3 inches approx. It is in very good condition although there is some light surface speckling/disturbance,(please see the scan)....the image and lettering are clearer than the scan shows them to be.  

Japanese Chin Spaniel v.nice single 1988 UK trade card. This very pretty original single trade card was issued in the United Kingdom in 1988 as part of a set of cards entitled "Dogs" "1st series".Printed text on the reverse relates to the issuer which was "Cofton Collections".It measures 2.75 inches by 1.5 inches approx.It is in very good condition and the actual image on the card is a little clearer than the scan shows it to be.

This very nice single playing card was recently issued in China.It measures 3.5 by 2.25 inches approx.It is in very good condition although there is some light surface speckling,(please see the scan)....the actual image is a little sharper than the scan shows it to be.  

Japanese Chin Spaniel v.pretty 1938 original UK card. This very pretty original single UK card was issued in 1938 by Gallaher Ltd as part of their 48 card series entitled "Dogs" "Second Series of 48".It has printed text on the reverse relating to the breed.It measures 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches.It is in very good condition.....the actual image is clearer than the scan shows it to be.The printed text on the reverse reads as follows...."The Japanese is a dog which many people confuse with the Pekingese, yet a glance should be sufficient to distinguish them. The extra length of leg and different formation of the jaw will give them away at once, apart from the variation in colouring. Many people will prefer the fascinating, almost cheeky beauty of the Japanese to the rather indignant expression of the average "Peke"."  

Japanese Chin Spaniel Lucy Dawson reproduction card. This very pretty single card depicting a pair of Japanese Chin Spaniels called "Sadie and Michi" is a reproduction of the original late 1930's card issued by W.D.& H.O.Wills from their 40 card series entitled "Puppies"......the set never made it in to general circulation because of the onset of the 2nd World War and paper rationing .The images were drawn by Lucy Dawson,(also known as "Mac"),who was a very much admired dog artist in her day and who is still well known today. The reproduction set from which this card is taken was issued in 1990 by Imperial Publishing Ltd in England. It has printed comments on the reverse by Lucy Dawson relating to the dog/s pictured........please click on the smaller image to the left which will bring up a scan of the rear,(the printing and image are clearer on the card than the scans shows them to be).
