N10
Northwood Glass Clear Memphis Pattern 4 Piece Table Set This fabulous 4 piece Memphis table set manufactured by the Northwood Glass Firm is circa 1908-1910. The Memphis pattern is a distinctive imitation cut glass pattern. The glass is of heavy weight and fine quality. All portions of the pattern are heavily raised or deeply sunken. Detailing on each piece is gilded. Each piece is signed with the Northwood "N" trademark.
This table set consists of 4 pieces; spooner, creamer, sugar bowl with lid, and butter dish with lid. Each piece is in remarkably fine condition. The gold detailing is in "like new" condition, showing only the slightest of wear, except for the creamer, that has some gold wear on the lip. The only structural problem to any of the pieces is a small 1/4 inch rough chip on the underside of the sugar bowl lid. This defect is not visible from the outside of the lid, nor is in on the rim that sits inside the bowl. (See photos).
This Northwood table set has impressive size, specifically designed for its eye catching presence on the table. The butter dish with cover measures 6 1/2 inches tall by 8 inches in diameter. The spooner measures 3 1/2 inches tall and 6 1/2 inches in diameter from handle to handle. The sugar bowl with lid is 6 1/2 inches tall by 7 1/2 inches in diameter from handle to handle, and the creamer measures 4 1/2 inches tall by 6 inches in diameter from lip to handle.
This table set is an exquisite example of the importance of fine dining during the Victorian era. Sold originally as a set nearly 100 years ago, these four pieces together in this condition are difficult to find, and will display so beautifully in your home. Ideal to add to your Northwood collection, or give as a fine gift!
