1800's Slovak Bible with hand carved Ivory
Very old, very ornate antique Slocak Bible or religious book from the late 1800’s. This fine collectible measures 7-1/2" x 4-3/4" and is just over 1-1/2" thick.
The front of the Bible is lavishly decorated in hand carved ivory and etched silver metal and filigreed metal in a bronze color. Bible is edged in a bronze or brass colored metal and has one ornately decorated clasp, the other clasp is missing.

Condition: Very good for its age. Pages clean and tight for most part. Frontispiece is partly loose. Stains and foxing on inside front covers and pages at beginning of book. Stains here and there in following pages.
Covers and spine intact for most part with bottom part of spine torn, stains in places on covers. Title label for Fleetwood partly loose.
Its age considered, a very worthy addition to the library of the antiquarian or Christian book collector.

Binding is intact, but its wear and tear are quite evident. Spine and front cover are missing. Back cover is loose. Family register page is loose.
Pages are entirely readable though have browned at edges and stained in places.
Even with its wear and tear, a fascinating addition to one's library.

Primitive Religious icon of Christ on gilt panel.
Beautiful, rare religious icon of Christ on gold painted panel with an antique gilt frame.
Age unknown, probably at least 150 to 200 years old.
It is unclear what language or languages are represented in the lettering inscribed in the icon. One of the letters ( a character with three curved lines radiating upward and three curved lines radiating downward), is a character cited in Wikipedia as part of the early Cyrillic alphabet. This same character has also been cited as part of the Russian alphabet. This may be an Orthodox icon.
Measurements are 20 inches high and 20 inches wide including the frame.
Remarkably intact for its age, but with signs of wear, and the frame somewhat fragile. A rare museum quality piece to be handled with care, but well worth the interest of a curator or collector.

Die Heilige Schrift Alten Und Neuen Testaments circa 18th. Century.
"Biblia Das Ist: Die Heilige Schrift Altes Und Neues Testaments, Nach Der Deutschen Uebersetzung D. Martin Luther"
Antique Bible printed in Philadelphia. All in German, comprising the Old Testament, Apocrypha, and New Testament.
This volume does not indicate the year of its publication, however similar 992 page publications of Die Heilige Schrift Alten Und Neuen Testaments published in Germantown, PA, have been cited as being from the year 1763. For that reason, I am designating this Bible to be a circa 18th. century publication. The family register references the year 1814, indicating it would be at the least an early 19th. century volume, if not late 18th. century. The city of Philadelphia is indicated in the inside title page as the place of its publication.
This volume stands near 12" tall by 9 1/4" wide by 3 1/4" thick. It is remarkably intact for its age.
The front cover is partly loose from the binding, and as indicated in the accompanying photos, there is foxing and and staining throughout in places. Pages 571 and 575 are torn in the center.
With all the visible wear and signs of age, it is otherwise solidly intact. Back cover appears tight and secure, and pages are entirely readable.
A worthy, well preserved addition to the library of any collector.

Wonderful piece of history and genealogy. Not to mention the religious aspect of this large old family bible. Leather bond though the binding will be in need of repair. Front cover is loose from the book as is the binding leather and first color page verse. Page edges are gilt with an impressed design. Old and New testaments. Published by William T Amies 1882. Lots of art work and pictures. Section with pictures/illustration of biblical animals, plants etc. Dictionary of biblical terms, Photo album section in back(no photos included). Marriages, births and deaths record. Mentioned are as follows.
