Old Testament, Apocrypha, and New Testaments intact. Old Testament and Apocrypha together are 971 pages long. New Testament is 306 pages long. Illustrations throughout this Bible. Bible begins with frontispiece of Martin Luther, followed by a table of contents. New Testament starts with frontispiece of Christ, followed by a signed family register page. Volume is 9 inches high by 6.5 inches wide by 3 inches thick. Condition: fair. Binding is intact, but its wear and tear are quite evident. Spine and front cover are missing. Back cover is loose. Family register page is loose. Pages are entirely readable though have browned at edges and stained in places. "Biblia Das Ist: Die Heilige Schrift Altes Und Neues Testaments, Nach Der Deutschen Uebersetzung D. Martin Luther" Antique Bible printed in Philadelphia. All in German, comprising the Old Testament, Apocrypha, and New Testament. This volume does not indicate the year of its publication, however similar 992 page publications of Die Heilige Schrift Alten Und Neuen Testaments published in Germantown, PA, have been cited as being from the year 1763. For that reason, I am designating this Bible to be a circa 18th. century publication. The family register references the year 1814, indicating it would be at the least an early 19th. century volume, if not late 18th. century. The city of Philadelphia is indicated in the inside title page as the place of its publication. This volume stands near 12" tall by 9 1/4" wide by 3 1/4" thick. It is remarkably intact for its age. The front cover is partly loose from the binding, and as indicated in the accompanying photos, there is foxing and and staining throughout in places. Pages 571 and 575 are torn in the center. With all the visible wear and signs of age, it is otherwise solidly intact. Back cover appears tight and secure, and pages are entirely readable. Print Date: 1678 General Description: This is a King James Version of the Bible including the Old Testament, New Testament and the Apocrypha. Printing Information: London: John Bill, Chr Barker, Tho. Newcomb and Hen. Hills, his Majesties Printers. Size: 7" (175mm) x 9.5" (240mm) x 3" (75mm) Condition: The binding of this Bible shows the general craftsmanship of a fine skilled and devoted technician to protect this ancient fragile museum-like manuscript. The binding is strong and the leather is supple. As a result, there is no cracking or tearing at the hinges. This is desirable to the archives of world-famous curators serving museums that are guardians of our Biblical heritage. This Bible was flown by jet from the heart of Israel not far from where the Dead Sea scrolls, and where our pastor personally toured and visited the museum of ancient manuscripts. One of the nice things about this Bible is that there are three title pages present: Two general title pages to the Bible and one for the New Testament. It is rare to find these Bibles with their title pages. Having said that, there is no title page for the Old Testament itself. The initial decorative title page has been remounted some time in the past. The second title page is missing a small corner toward the lower-right at the bottom. The first two pages (the portion dedicated to King James and the first page of Genesis) are a bit rough and both have portions missing toward the lower-right, both affecting the text in that area. Once past these initial pages (the first page of Genesis) the pages are very sound and clean without tears. This quality lasts throughout the entire Bible until the last two pages of Revelation. The last two pages are very wrinkled and torn horizontally in the middle all the way across the pages. There is no loss of text, though, and these pages could be repaired. The very last page of Revelation is missing, otherwise this is a very complete book despite its being 329 years old.
