INsch is a prosperous village half a mile from the station of that same name, which is 27 ½ miles from Aberden. The Ury is here known as the Glen Water, as it flows through Glen Foundland ; slate, of excellent roofing quality, was formerly extensively quarried on the Foundland hills. The hill of Dunnideer, with its fragmented castle and fort, is the outstanding feature in the neighbourhood. |
