8054

1920's Unusual Underwood Double Shift Typewriter Wow! What a find this machine is. It is a portable typewriter, complete with its original case, from the 1920's. It only has 28 keys with 3 characters on each typeslug. Yes, THREE characters on each typebar. The machine has accomplishes this with the use of a DOUBLE SHIFT mechanism. There is one shift for upper case letters and another shift key for figures/numbers and symbols.

Most portable typewriters have 39 or 42 keys. This one has 28, or only 3 rows of keys instead of 4, and why it is so compact. This antique typewriter is indeed a collectible item. Everything on the machine is operating properly and the type style is clean and crisp for a 80 year old machine.

I have installed a new ribbon on this typewriter so it is ready for your enjoyment. This typewriter would make a great yesteryear display or a wonderful movie prop as it is still operational. The original leather carrying handle is long gone from the old case, but a small leather belt would work just fine.

1946 Smith Corona Silent Black Portable Typewriter MADE IN THE USA: This manual typewriter definitely carries the nostalgic look of the mid 40's. It was the Smith Corona SILENT design which was a desirable machine for that era. This typewriter has the glass key buttons that are so sought after these days. It has a tab key and margin release key right on the keyboard which was an important extra feature in those times.

Everything is working on this machine and it has been serviced and ready for duty if you're up to typing on a manual typewriter or it would also make a very good yesteryear display. The typewriter also has a touch control adjustment feature just under the top cover.
