1882

Collectible Sessions Small Swept Wing Mantel Clock This classic clock is called a SWEPT WING mantel clock with its great design that was popular in the mid-1950's. This Sessions brand clock was made by one of the most respected clock companies of the time.

This particular clock was originally electric but the electric motor finally gave out so I have converted it to an enclosed battery operated quartz clock. While it is sad to lose some of the originality of this wonderful clock, doing this gives a superior benefit of being absolutely portable and this clock can be placed on any fireplace mantel or wall shelf and it will operate on its own. All the care it needs is resetting the clock on Day-Light Savings time changes and replacing the battery (usually once per year).

The set dial and battery are easily accessible by removing the 2 nuts on the rear plate of the clock as shown in the photos. You can reset the time or change the battery behind this access rear plate. This rear plate keeps the clock looking good with its originality with the benefit of modern day time keeping. The dial is still the original dial and it is looking very good.

The walnut wood case is in good condition although it has some nicks and dings here and there. This is a good looking clock for its age and any noticeable wear adds to its charm for sure.

This clock measures 4.25 inches tall by 8 inches wide and 2.25 inches deep.

1601

Antique 1900's Gilbert Chiming Mantel Clock This beautiful clock was made in the early 1900's by the W.L. Gilbert Clock Company. It has a chiming gong that strikes the hour every hour with a deep and rich tone. It also strikes on the half hour with a pleasant sounding bell.

This clock has been gone over and serviced and is in excellent operating condition. It comes complete with its own winding key. The mainsprings last for 8 Days so most usually wind them once per week on the same day.

The clock measures 13 inches wide, 12 inches tall and 6 inches deep. The bright mahogany finish is crackled with age but is in good condition. There are a couple ding spots on the top-rear edge of the clock but it doesn't detract from its antique beauty. The dial also has some aging as shown in the photos.

If you're looking for a bit of yesterday to fit in your decor, this clock is a worthy candidate.

1828

1890's Ingraham PALACE Antique Mantel Clock This is a very unusual Ingraham model, the Palace model, from the late 1800's. I have never seen this model before although it is in the Ingraham book.

The most beautiful feature of the clock is the multicolored glass-like trim on the front of the clock. It is called the Cathedral Glass Window Effect. What a spectacular look and amazing that after 100 plus years the multicolored effect is in perfect condition! It also has a very good Iveroid Dial with a glass door covering it.

This clock is in good running and striking condition. It strikes once with a pleasant gong on the half-hour and counts the hour count at the top of the hour. This clock is also special as it has the Lion heads on each end of the clock. This is usually a good sign of a quality clock worth high values. The original label for the clock is still on the back door and in good condition.

This is a huge clock at 20 inches wide 11 inches tall and 5.5 inches deep.

A key is included.

2050

1950's GE Westminster Chime Electric Mantel Clock This is one of those special clocks that are difficult to find. It is an electric clock with Westminster Chimes which means it chimes every quarter hour and counts the hour count on the hour. The chimes are a solid and beautiful sound. The motor is a Telechron electric motor which was eventually taken over by General Electric.

The Mahogancy clock case is in great shape without any deep scratches or bad scrapes. The clock keeps good time and the chimes are working properly. Even the instructions for the clock are still on the underside of the back door.

I have serviced this clock and have had it running for a good long time now, and it performs without problems.

Click for more detail...
2032

1978 Howard Miller Triple-Chime Carriage Mantel Clock This is a very special clock of high quality and desirability. It is the famous Howard Miller Mantel clock of the carriage clock styling. It has the high quality Hermle West German movment that has 3 different selectable chimes. It has the Whittington chime, the West Minster chime or the Saint Michaels chime tune. It plays the selected chime every 15 minutes and it also plays the hour count each hour when the minute hand reaches 12.

The chimes also have a SILENT position so you can turn them off at night or turn them off completely. There are 3 winding arbors to wind up, one for the time, one for the 15 minute chimes and one for the hourly chimes. If you wind them fully, they will last for 8 days. Hence, this type of clock is called an 8-Day windup clock. Most people simply wind the mainsprings once per week on the same day of the week.

This clock can be turned backwards to reset the time. Doing such bypasses the chimes and will not hurt the clock. This is a nice feature of the quality Hermle movement.

This clock has been serviced and tested thoroughly and everything is working properly and it keeps good time. You can adjust the speed for your climate by following the instructions inside the back door of the cabinet.

This is truly a fine clock of high quality. The original winding key comes with the clock as shown in the photos.

1520

Vintage Smiths-Enfield Chiming 8-Day Mantle Clock Smith's-Enfield is a popular quality clock manufacturer in Great Britain. These clocks were highly sought after for their dependability and quality. This is a wood case clock, and the case is in fair condition. It does have some dings here and there as shown in the photos but the case is sound and sturdy.

The brass movement has been serviced, adjusted and lubricated and is ready for duty at its new home. It is a pendulum-operated 8- day windup clock with the pendulum being inside the back door of the clock. You can adjust the clock speed if necessary by turning the thumbscrew on the pendulum to make the clock go faster or slower. The chimes are a gong-type chime, and they ring once on the half-hour and count the hour on the hour every hour.

The clock comes with a key and the clock measures 8 inches tall by 9 inches wide at the widest part and 4.75 inches deep. Just a perfect size for a smaller mantel and there is no electrical cord to cause an ugly scene.
