This is an old Whiskey bottle with starburst decorations on 2 sides and plain ovals on 2 sides. This bottle does not appear to be missing any label and could have been utilized as a fancy decanter as well.
It measures 11 ¾ inches tall and 12 inches around the widest point and is free from scratches, chips, or cracks. The stopper is hollow glass with a cork covered stopper that is worn.
The bottom of the bottle is embossed with:
Permit Number: L 9918 Was made at plant: 1 (Toledo, Ohio) Is an O-I production: Owen-Illinois Made in: 1938 Symbol of purchaser: 55-64
Also embossed on the bottom is "Federal Law forbids sale or reuse of this container", which also dates it back to this time period.
Mr. Planter's Peanut Jars Theses two decorative jars were created in 1983 by Anchor Hocking glass and have the anchor in the rectangle on the bottom along with Mr. Peanut embossed in the glass.
The sides are cut with diamonds and a "grass" like pattern and are both exactly alike. The lids are hollow and stay in place with a plastic stopper. There are 2 side seams that have been ground smooth and each jar is 8 inches tall and 11 ½ inches around.
These bottles would work well to use as barware or at home for peanuts or any other kind of snack. They also work well for gifts filled with Planter’s Peanuts! They are in perfect condition with no chips, scratches, or cracks in the glass.
