Antique Victorian Ladies Fancy Black Manicure Set
This is a beautiful piece, very well preserved with ornate details of a Victorian Lady in a wreath with Grape Leaf accents, in the background to the left is Victorian House facing a Lake with Two People in a Boat. This box dates to the mid 1850's to 1890's, it has a what I believe is called a leatherette finish, the latch is very ornate, probably brass that would most likely shine up if cleaned.
The top opens to reveal a yellow satin lining. It originally had four pieces in it, remaining is a glass jar with a black lid and the buffer, missing are the scissors and a file.
This piece is in wonderful condition, even the paper cover on the bottom of the box is intact, the outside is in lovely condition, there three tiny, tiny spots on the lid where the grape design is that are missing the black area. The satin lining is intact, does show some age, this can be seen in the picture. It is 6 1/2" tall by 4 1/4" across by just over 2" deep, it comes from a smoke free home and would be a remarkable addition to your collection!
Circa: Late 1850's to 1890's
