Antique Carnegie Library & Technical Schools Pittsburgh Pa Plate
I am pleased to offer to you this Antique Carnegie Library & Technical Schools Pittsburgh Pa Plate. This plate has a picture of Carnegie on it, By 1905 the Carnegie Library & Technical School opened it doors to students, the massive buildings of the Carnegie Technical Schools were contructed in a field east of the Pittsburgh. The first students of the School of Science and Technology began classes in unfinished buildings, still surrounded by new construction. The school initially offered two- and three-year programs to train the children of Pittsburgh's working class. In 1912, with the original campus nearly complete and three more schools ~the School of Fine and Applied Arts, the School of Apprentices and Journeymen, and the Margaret Morrison Carnegie School for Women~ were holding classes, the Carnegie Technical Schools changed its name to the Carnegie Institute of Technology and began offering four-year degrees. Andrew Carnegie also established many libraries to help promote education to those who could not afford it. This plate was made by Dresden China, this company was operated under and in conjunction with the Brunt, Bloor, Martin and Company Pottery companies in the early 1900's. It is nicely done, deep rich colors with a gold trim, it is 9 1/4" across, in very nice condition, no chips, does have fine craze lines from age and the gold trim has some light wear, back is marked with Dresden China. It is a hard to find plate and would be a terrific addition to your collection!

Vintage Arizona The Copper State Collector Plate
This is a beautiful vintage piece, it is has a gold overlay, it is not marked as to who made it, most pieces of this age that have the gold overlay are normally 14 to 23 K gold. This plate has Arizona The Copper State in the middle along with a picture of the Saguaro Forest. The sides have pictures of the State Capital, Rug Weaver, Coolidge Dam, Grand Canyon and Sand Painter. I would estimate the age on it to be from the 1950's to 1960's, it is 7 1/4" across, is in excellent condition, no chips and no wear to the gold plate. It would be a unique addition to your collection!
