Charlotte Fung Miller 1981 Original Brush Painting This is an original Chinese Brush Painting done in 1981 by Charlotte Fung Miller, of Mukwonago, Wisconsin. I acquired this piece at an estate auction of a retired professor from Iowa State University a few years back. He must have traveled frequently, as his sale had several pieces from around the world.

This piece is protected in a folder with a see through window, and this is how I received it when I purchased it at the auction. There is a label on the bottom which reads, "Miller, Charlotte Fung, U.S. (1981) 110-44-141 Original Painting", and I assume the professor did this.

I did contact Charlotte Fung Miller a while back to authenticate this piece and she said that she did this piece in 1981.

The piece is done on rice paper and the artwork itself measures 7.5" x 11.5". The condition is very nice for its age. The piece is adhered to the 'folder' at the top corners only, which looks to be originally done that way, perhaps by the professor.

LS21407-2
Red Stag Oil Painting This is a framed original red stag oil painting on canvas. The artist signed this in the lower left with the initials, "RMO". The canvas on the stretchers measures 13" x 36". The outside dimensions of the frame are 17.5" x 40". The damages to the canvas are noted as follows: 1) Across the bottom there is loss of paint; 2) In the bottom center area there is a pencil size hole that pokes through to the back; 3) In the top left area there is a tear that looks like an upside down "T" and measures about .75" x 1"; and 4) The frame does have damages to the decorative embellishments. The family that I acquired this from said the family roots begin in Londonberry, Ireland, but it is not certain if this piece came to America with the family, or if it was acquired once settled in America. Research indicates that this is a red stag which is a European species and is native to Scotland. This piece most likely originated from the United Kingdom, perhaps from Scotland or Wales and would date to the mid or late 19th century (1850-1899). This seems to correspond with the family history and perhaps this piece did come to America with the family.

LS21707-3
Swan Oil on Canvas Painting This is a framed original oil painting on canvas of two swans on water. The canvas on the stretchers measures 13" x 36". The outside dimensions of the frame are 17.5" x 40". The damages to the canvas are noted as follows: 1) At the top, near the bird tail an itty-bitty poke hole that doesn't go through to the back; 2) At the center right near the single cattail a .75"-1" damage to the paint with about .5" tear that goes through to the back; 3) In the center near the swan head is what might be paint smear and a scratch near the swan head that is bent down; and 4) The frame does have damages to the decorative embellishments. The family I acquired this from said the family roots begin in Londonberry, Ireland, but it is not certain if this piece came to America with the family, or if it was acquired once settled in America. There is no artist signature found, therefore, I was not able to ascertain who the artist is of this lovely piece. This is similar to the other painting I have for sale, and I would date it in the same era (1850-1899).
