Manufacturer: Porzellanfabrik Johann Seltmann, Vohenstrauß This is a Johann Seltmann signed bowl that was made in the 1901-1912 time frame based on the mark from the bottom, which is the JPSV with crossed swords, each letter in a separate segment of the crossed sword, with the word Bavaria as part of the mark.

Besides being artist signed on the front, in the lower right area of the bowl, the back is signed in a red ink and it looks like it might be a pattern name. I'm reading it as Persian, however, that first letter might be different. The words Hand Painted are also below the mark.
This bowl measures approximately 10.5 inches in diameter and stands about 3 inches tall.
The pattern, if it is called Persian, makes sense as the design is very oasis-like. The color palate is pink and green with white and yellow as accents in the pattern. The edges are scalloped with gilding.
The bowl does have some minor wear on the pattern, but I find no chips or other damages. |
