Kennedy001
Robert Kennedy - A Memoir by Jack Newfield Was Robert Kennedy consumed with selfish ambition - a ruthless opportunist who exploited his brother's legend?

Or was he too passionate and too vulnerable to ever be the cool, confident operator his brother was?

This author contends that he was a good and decent man who allowed himself to be trapped in the compromising snakepit of American politics, who did things he must have been ashamed of. That he was the one politician of his time who might have united the black and white poor of America into a new majority for change.

This book is a chronicle and analysis of Robert Kennedy's politics and character between the gunshots of Dallas and the gunshots of Los Angeles - from 1963 to 1968 - a half decade of war, violence, racism, and social chaos. (From the dust jacket).

Jack Newfield was the assistant editor of The Village Voice. He also wrote free-lance articles for major magazines.

The pages show yellowing of the edges. The dust jacket has some tears around the edges and the folds.
