Candle Holder China England Florals Poppies Carnations This wonderful candle holder came to me through an estate sale, such a wonderful piece of art, made of fine English Bone China, the floral in this piece of "art" are so delicately molded and hand painted.

This exquisite candle holder measures as follow; 3 ½ inches high and 2 ¾ inches in diameter, this single candle stick holder, a truly piece of art bears the markings on the bottom "English Bone China" , manufactured by "Radnor" of England; marked with one of Radnor earlier emblems and signed by the artist. History on Toasting Forks; in Georgian times a toasting fork was an item in daily use. It was used to toast crumpets or bread in the fireplace for buttered toast or toasted cheese sandwiches. Travel toasting forks would have telescoping handles that could be shortened to make them less unwieldy to transport. They helped many a soldier or traveler to make stale bread more palatable.
The German Pastor, Carl Philip Moritz, was delighted by the English invention, toast. "There is a way of roasting slices of buttered bread before the fire which is incomparable," he wrote." One slice after another is taken and held to the fire with a fork till the butter soaks through the whole pile of slices. This is called toast". --Moritz, Carl Philip. A toasting fork is mentioned in the Capel Letters. In Wives and Daughters, Molly Gibson and her father love to make toasted bread and cheese in the fireplace

Here I have a vintage pair of ice skates and can see them hung by the door of a log cabin, or in a den where the home owner use to play ice hockey in his younger day. Or maybe of those who live so much further north than we in Atlanta, in a home that so enjoys this winter sport that we never get to enjoy here in the south.

This pair of vintage / vintage ice skates measures as follows; 12 7/8 inches long, 3 ½ inches wide at the toe and 3 inches wide at the heel, Marked "Samuel Winslow" ,"Skate Mfg. Co. Markers" , "Size 11", and "Worcester Mass". Please note one of the leather straps is gone and one remains.

This vintage box measures 5 ¾ inches long, 4 ½ inches wide and stands 2 inches high and the inside depth is 1 1/8 inches. Most likely used when playing bridge was so in vogue for women this little box has been used and shows it wear as indicated in the pictures below. Though I think the "worn state" of this little box only adds to the rich patina giving age and warmth.

Another use for this vintage "Playing Card Box" would be to use it to store your keys in placed on a kitchen desk.

Here is a wonderful set of binoculars / field glasses found with its original leather case both in wonderful condition and the glasses are in good working condition.

The measurements are as follows; the leather strap when extended measures 27 inches long from the bottom of the case, the top of the case is 5 ¾ inches wide and 5 ½ inches high and 2 ¾ inches deep. The glasses measure 4 inches wide and 4 ¾ inches high closed. Marked as found in the photographs below; "Astro", "Made in France", "Paris" just a few notes that are imprinted on the glasses from the manufacturer.

This set of binoculars / field glasses are in good working condition and would be a wonderful accessory hung over the back of a chair or set within a bookshelf. If you are a bird watcher, keep this set of binoculars close to reach for easy close up view of the unique birds that might visit your bird feeder. Lobster Forks Set of 12 Bakelite French Vintage During the Victorian Era, there was a piece of flatware for every use at the dining table, from the early 1900’s here is an excellent set of 12 Lobster Forks found in their original box lined with silk and marked on the silk "The Italian Shop of Chicago".

This excellent collection of rare vintage "Lobster Forks" measures as follows; the box measures 7 ½ inches long 6 3/8 inches wide and is 1 ¾ inches deep. The original box found in excellent condition as well, have a firm clasp on the front that works perfectly, the dark green box is accented in gold and marked on the back of the box, is "Made in France". The lovely lobster forks with their gold blade and their slightly turned up prongs is assured to get each bite of that delectable piece of lobster out of the shell. The forks measure 6 ¾ inches long and the handle is 5/8 inches wide.

If you are a collector of vintage flatware here is a rare find, a complete set of 12 vintage lobster forks, made in France and found in their originally box.
