Vintage Pottery Boxes Japanese Pair Floral Bird 1940’s; we have acquired quite a few vintage Japanese pieces from an estate we purchased last year, here is a pair of charming "Trinket Boxes" found in wonderful condition and both marked "Made in Japan".
These adorable matching boxes, measures 5 ¾ inches long 4 inches deep and stand 3 inches high w/o cover, with the cover in place the boxes stand 5 inches high. Neither of the beautiful trinket boxes have any "cracks" or "nicks" found on them; however there is a very small amount of "crazing" to these two boxes that have taken place over the years. As you can see one of the boxes has aged with a brown patina and appears to be older than the other.
So delightful with the raised relief found in the design of these boxes from the "molded flowers" created on the top to "acanthus" leaf style design found on the corner and on the top of these boxes. Hand painted in a strong color palate of reds accented with flowers found in greens, blues, and yellows these Japanese vintage "Trinket Boxes" are truly stunning.
