At a recent estate sale we were lucky enough to win the bid on these antique canning jars, a collection of blue and all circa between mid 1800’s to early 1900’s, we have listed all the marks of each jar below.
This wonderful collection of 4 antique canning jars are marked and measures as follows;
1) The tall canning jar with the lid still on marked "Mason", "Patent NOV 30th 1858", on the bottom marked "913A" and there is an emblem on the side of this jar. The jar measures 7 ½ inches tall, the top is 2 ¾ inches in diameter, the center 3 ½ inches wide and the base 3 ¾ inches
2) The tall canning jar without the lid is marked "Mason", "Patent NOV 30th 1858", the bottom of the jar is marked "Pat Nov 26 67". Notice the emblem of the cross on the top of this jar. The jar measures 7 inches tall, 3 ½ inches at the widest part, the top is 2 ¾ inches in diameter and the base is 3 ¾ inches in diameter.
3) Two Ball Jars measuring each, 5 ½ inches tall with the glass tops, the center is 3 ½ inches wide and the bases are 3 3/8 inches; both marked "Ball", "Pat July 14 1908", "I Deal", one marked "wire side", "15" and the number "8" on the bottom, the other marked "Bail Here", with the number "5" on the bottom.
