Scio Pottery was started in 1933 in a small village in Ohio. It was started primary to produce affordable dinnerware. Fire It closed for awhile shortly after World War 2. The town of Scio pitched in and helped build the factory again. No wonder, it soon employed over 1300 people making it the largest employer in Harrison county
Interesting fact about Scio, it is not made from Ohio Clay ! They got clay from North Carolina. They were able to produce almost 300,000 pieces of dinnerware a day.Scio Pottery stopped making pottery in 1985. Scoi pottery is unmarked. The reason so they could save money producing.
