"John Bell" Stoneware Jug
Stoneware Jug with impressed mark "John Bell/Waynesboro." It is 8" Tall x 4 3/4" wide. It is missing a handle with 2 flakes to the rim.
After 1800 stoneware was often marked with a die-stamped name and perhaps the place, which you see on this jug. That changed after 1850. So this jug is probably between 1820-1860.
John Bell (1800-1880) worked in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. John Bell's pottery is highly sought after. His cobalt painted pieces have sold in the 6 figures.
SUBJECT TO PRIOR SALE.
Condition: Good Condition

Early 1750's Salt-Glazed Stoneware Crock
This bought at an auction in Kentucky. I was told it was from the late 1700's in North Carolina, and early example of the simple brown salt-glazed stoneware crock. It is about 14" tall and dimpled. It has elephant ear handles. The top of the crock is ovoid in shape. I don't know if it was intended that way or just came out that way.
SUBJECT TO PRIOR SALE.
Circa: c1780
Condition: Very Good
Size: 14"
