Diecast toys were first produced early in the 20th century. The first models were basic and because Zamak alloy was used, they suffered metal fatigues. As a result, diecast toys made before Worl War II are difficult to find in good condition.
The popularity of diecast toys as collectibles developed in the 1950's as their detail and quality increased. During the 1960s various companys began to use diecast vehicles as promotional items for advertising. |
