Two 1866 Letters Regarding Disabled Soldier
Bothe of these letters are dated 1866, signed by Col. Harrington asking an official in the Government for employment of young man who lost leg at the "Battle of the Wilderness." It is stamped with the Capital impress.
"The brave Mr. Henry J. Danforth, one of our citizens, who lost a leg at the Battle of the Wilderness seeks employment. He is a young man of good education, excellent habits, and strict integrity. I would commend him to your kindest sympathies, and trust it may be consistent for you to aid him"
The second letter is letter is to another goverment offical, signed by what appears not only to Col. Harrington, but several members of his unit.
"He is a young man of good education, and excellent penman, correct habits, and strict integrity, and the strongest recommendations from his officers as a good soldier...I hope and trust it may be consistent for you to assist him to obtain employment believing that we owe a debt to our disabled soldiers..."
These documents is great insight to the aftermath of a terrible civil war.

West Point Hotel Bill 1865
Hotel Bill from the West Point Hotel, dated Oct. 23,1865 for a Capt. Hascall. It has a stamp on it dated November 3, 1865. It was for 22 days for a total of $50.45 including $14.74 for his brother's meals.
It is is wonderful condition and is a little piece of history.
