Post Civil War Confederate Mississippi State Button This button was made after the war by Scoville Mfg. for Confederate Veterans. What is interesting about it is that it has 13 stars instead of 11 representing the states in the Confederacy.

It has the Scoville, Waterbury, Conn mark on the back. It is a high convex button with "CS" for Confederate States on the Eagle's shield. It is very clean. The shank on the back is straight and intact.

Post Civil War Confederate CSA button This button was also made by the Scoville Mfg. Company for Confederate Veterans after the war. This button has a slick dark patina. I believe it is pewter. It is not nearly as substantial as the #177 CSA button listed above.

Post Civil War -Confederate General Service Coat Button This is a very fine post-Civil War Confederate Coat button that was made by the Scoville Mfg. Company to sell to Confederate veterans in the years after the war. It has some scratches on the front. You can see serif pattern (ridges) in the "C", but they appear to have been worn smooth on the "S" and "A". It has the Waterbury, Connecticut back mark.

Civil War Federal Officer Staff Coat Button This is a fine non-excavated Union Civil War button made for the officer staff. It was made by "R & W Robinson/Makers/Attleboro Mass." It has a high dome. The motif depicts 24 stars, with 3 arrows in the left talon. (Most of these buttons were depicted with 4 arrows in the right talon). The stand-up shank is intact and the button is beautifully gilded.

Civil War Federal Calvary Eagle Coat Button This is a Federal Calvary Eagle "C" (standing for Calvary) button.The back mark is "Scoville Mfg Co/Waterbury". The back shank is straight and totally intact. The button shows wear on the front. The features of the eagle are softened around the edges, presumably from wear. The button is slightly misshapen as well. It appears to be made of pewter.

Civil War Confederate Artillery Button Move Your Sights Up! This is a non-excavated Confederate Artillery "Roman" A coat button. It is very hard to find these in a "non-dug" condition. It has a smooth patina and shows wear. The shank on the back is not in tact. The back is blank.

Civil War Confederate Virginia State Coat Button RARE! This a local high dome Virginia button with the State Seal. It has great patina. Virtis is pictured with sword down, "Virginia Sic Semper Tyrannis" surrounds the outside of the button. This is a two-piece button which means it was made after the 1830's. This is a nonecavated button. The shank on the back is straight and intact.

It has an English backmark. Indeed, a treasure to add to your collection.

Confederate General Staff Coat and Cuff Button This is a RARE matching pair. These are Confederate General Staff Officer's Coat Button with its matching cuff button. The eagle is on a pedestal facing right with 11 stars on top and is holding three arrows in its left talon.

It has a stand up shank intact. The back is blank on both buttons and may have been made in England. The reason-English producers may have used blank backs to disguise the origins of the button. English support for the Confederacy dropped when it became clear the "War in the South" was lost. Although England was "neutral", producers many have wanted to protect future business and preferred anonymity. This set of buttons are nonexcavated.
