There was a time were these lovely little salt cellars were essential to setting a fine table. Salt was served in individual bowls or in the case of the Master Salts, several on a table. They were made of glass, porcelain, pewter, and silver and gold.
The diner could take a pinch of salt for his/her meal or sometimes use a small spoon that was attached.
They are a lovely addition to today's table as well. |
