Ernest Hemingway-The Old Man and The Sea-1952 Ed.
Hemingway originally published "The Old Man and the Sea" in its entirety in 1952. The novella subsequently became Book of the Month Club selection and a best seller. It gained immediate critical acclaim and earned Hemingway the Pultizer prize in 1953. The book is one of the original Book-of-The Month Club editions published in 1952. The year 1952 appears on the title page and the copyright page. The blue tint dust cover is in very good condition with expected wearing on the edges. The binding is tight. The book itself shows almost no wear. Hemingway's signature is blind stamped on the front cover. There is no mention of the Pulizer's Prize as found on older versions of the dust jacket.

"A Night to Remember" 1955- Walter Lord
This is the famous book about the Titanic "A Night to Remember. The first printing was done in November 1955. This is the third printing done in December 1955. This show the popularity of this book when it came out. It was eventually turned into a movie "A Night to Remember" in 1958 Walter Lord's book kick started the renewed popular interest in this disaster which has continued until today. It is full of information, a great deal of it from the words of the survivors themselves, as the author interviewed every survivor he could find. It has an unfaded dust cover. $3.50 is marked on the flap. The book itself is in very good condition.

C. Dickens-A Christmas Carol-1929
This is the famous Dickens novel "A Christmas Carol. It is from Saalfield"s "Every Child's Libarary Series. It has at least 7 full page color prints inside. These were done by Fern Bisel Peat, who was a well regard illustrator of children's books, magazines and toys. There are over 50 pen and ink illustrations done by Helene Nyce. A beautiful book for your collection.
The Saalfiel Publishing Company was founded in 1900 by Arthur J. Saalfield who had come to Akron to take over the publishing department of the Werner Company. The Werner Company wished to discontinue the publishing end of the business, and Mr. Saalfield acquired it. Although Saalfield published books on diverse subject matter, Mr. Saalfield recognized the dearth of good books for children. Saalfield soon became one of the largest and most important publishers of children's books.
This copy is in near perfect condition. The cover itself is dark blue. What makes this unusual it still has its original dust jacket which is also in very good condition. No significant tears. Wearing on edge as expected.
On the inside it says in pencil "Property of Eleanor & Mary Wheeler, 215 North Sixth Ave. E, Newton, Iowa."
