Vintage Pot Metal Weathervane. White Tail Deer Here is a familiar site to most of us throughout North American. On the run, a white tailed deer moving gracefully through the countryside. The arrow and Loon are a one piece casting made from pot metal, which still has the majority of its original paint. There is some flaking and roughness, but is still in good condition. The arrow measures 18 inches from tip to tail and can be displayed just as is for a simple wall mounting, or we offer an antique cast pot metal roof mount that we will adapt for use with this vane. We also offer a set of directional indicators in vintage solid brass. Both of these accessories are listed below and sold separately so you can choose exactly the pieces you want.

Antique Tin Horse Weathervane, stand & amythist Ball This is a real American classic. The small horse weathervane figure was formed from two pieces of shaped tin, which were hold lead soldered together and mounted to the back of a fancy old cast iron arrow. The horse and arrow are 22 inches tip to tail and the horse stand roughly 7 inches tall. He is wonderful condition and has a thick coat of old black paint. The iron arrow still shows its original coat of white paint, but the weather has also caused spots of rust to bleed through and pepper the surface. Directly below the horse and arrow sits a 4-inch by 4-inch clear glass lightning ball that has been sun colored a lovely shade of amethyst. This piece also has an antique roof mount and all together stands nearly 54 inches above the floor. A very nice weathervane and lightning ball that likely date to the thirties and yet still have plenty of show left to give.

Antique Weathervane Old Time Bicycle - Big Wheel Bike Here is a beautiful and absolutely authentic weathervane made in the shape of an old time, big wheel bicycle like the kind they rode back when horses outnumbered automobiles as a means of transportation. This large antique weathervane was crafted long ago from welded iron, which forms the bike itself, and attached atop a copper arrow that was then mounted onto a three legged, spiral shaft, iron lighting rod base by means of which the entire piece was held in place on top of the barn roof until removed just recently by a local contractor. The weathervane dates back to early in the 1900's and is part of a salvage deconstruction operation that took place in Berks County Pa. slightly more than a year ago. Unlike the various reproductions of this old weathervane you are likely to see on the market, this one is made of welded iron, not painted copper or brass and this one has the natural rust and weathered patina to prove its age. The bicycle itself measures approximately 30 inches by 19 inches and sits on top of a 22 inch copper and brass arrow. The white glass lightning ball is also authentic. It measures about 4 1/2 inches in diameter and rest above the twisted iron roof mounting base which stands 30 inches tall and has three legs that can be bent to fit the roof line where attached. I suspect there might have at one time been a wooden seat attached to the bike frame, but it is long gone and unless you feel it should be added, I doubt many would even notice it missing.

Angel Folk Art Weathervane - Signed John Wright 1990 Here is a wonderful cast aluminum Angel made in Wrightsville Penna. by John Wright. The angel measures 19 1/4 inches in length x 4 1/2 inches tall x 1 1/8 inches wide. An absolutely perfect sized weathervane figure to display on your deck, gazebo, fence or rooftop. You may even like this lovely vane so much that you prefer to show off this angel as an interior accent. On the mantel, or a side tables, or maybe that nook with the light you have wanted to show off but haven't found just the right thing...... until now? Intricately designed, this hand painted weathervane is a lovely folk art piece. Since it is made from cast aluminum, it will never rust. Old Painted Rooster Weathervane 3D Figure Now isn't this a good looking fellow? This old rooster once part of an cast metal weathervane. I don't know if he got his coat of yellow paint before or after the gilding of which can be found traces remaining, or even if it was done after he and the arrow once was mounted on, parted company. The farmhouse where many of the items we will be listing was decorated with quite a number of antique lightning rod and weathervane parts. This strutting bird is made of a medium weight cast metal. I think he is solid, not hollow, but I do not believe he is made of aluminum, more likely some type of white metal or pot metal that would date to about the late 30's to mid 40's. The rooster measures just about 9 inches tall by 9 inches wide and appears to have several coats of old paint. How about finding this good looking guy a nice new home?

Vintage 50's English Cocker Spaniel - vane - topper This great looking Cocker Spaniel likely pre-dates the time when the breed was seperated into two designations, English and
American. Geraldine Dodge, a well known Cocker devotee and philanthropist, is credited with this distinction.

This figure dates all the way back to the 1950's, yet looks like new. This wonderful painted metal full bodied dog is one of several similar outdoor decor pieces that were never used or used only indoors as a decoration. The cute cocker stands 7 inches tall and 9 inches long and has a 3/4 inch wide base section with holes to fasten through. This would have either been used on a weathervane or perhaps as a mailbox topper. The colors are pure 50's and the piece is simply gorgeous. Over 50 and still this good looking? Better hurry.

Vintage 50's Hunting Scene - Brother & Sister - Cast Another great looking cast metal painted figural in 3D that dates all the way back to the 1950's, yet looks like brand new. This wonderful painted metal scene depicts brother with shotgun in hand and sister in tow going on a hunt in the woods. This is one of several similar outdoor decor pieces that we just purchased. These pieces were never used or were only used indoors as a decorations. The scene measures 7 inches tall and 11inches long and has a 3/4 inch wide base section with holes to fasten through. Old Cast Metal Weathervane Top. Country Doctor & Buggy This was once a familiar sight. One hundred years ago you would often encounter the local doctor riding along the rutted roads with horse and carriage, on his way to visit Mr. Whodiwho, or Miss Whatshername. This small and well worn weathervane topper is made from a sheet of pot metal and still has perhaps 50 % of its original black paint. Fancy Pot Metal Weathervane top - Horse & Carriage Now whoever got to ride in this fancy horse drawn carriage, they were probably accustomed to being treated like royalty. Not only is there a driver all dressed up in coat and hat, a doorman is also riding along and he too is dressed in very formal attire. The entire piece measures 14 inches in length and is in good condition with some minor paint loss, but nothing broken or loose. Use it as decor inside or out. Someone mentioned how nice it would look attached to a mailbox. Whatever you do with this classic old cast metal piece, it will look great.

Vintage Copper Angel. Cherub & Horn Weather Vane Perhaps this angelic cherub is the Angel Gabriel, the way he might have looked the first time he raised his horn to play. There is no name to identify this lovely childlike angel and no marks to tell us who fashioned this beautiful figure from two sheets of solid copper. Whoever the maker, it was a craftsman who had learned his trade well. From the weight and thickness of the copper, along with the depth and color of the metal’s patina, I think it fair to say this winged cherub with a horn is much older than most would say if guessing the child’s age. I would say he is probably 50 years old, if not a bit more. I don’t imagine a vane like this a one would have been found back in the late 1800’s, but then again, I wasn’t around then to know. This little angel is really not little at all. He measures close to 30 inches from the tip of his horn to the end of his foot and comes close to being 3 inches wide at his thickest places. The height from his mounting bar to the top of his wings is roughly 17 inches, so he is a full size weathervane to be sure. I can find no breaks or weak spots in the tin solder that joins his two halves and he is solidly set on his mounting bar, so if you want, this fellow is ready to go back up on the roof and do his work…., or maybe its time to take him inside and let your friends meet this cute angel face to face. He would make a fine accent piece and a worthy display for any situation. I have included a set of brass directional arms and an antique stand that brings the top of his wings to a height of 62 inches above the floor. If you decide you want this fine looking cherub and need a stand for some different height or situation, we will work with you to get you exactly the right piece to do the job. If you do not need a stand or directionals, we can offer a small discount from the listed price and likely save you a good deal of money on shipping as well. The world can always use another angel…

Fantastic Copper Rooster Weather Vane - Old - Original Now here’s a fine looking chicken that even the old Kentucky Colonial would have been proud to call his own. I can easily imagine this high stepping Rooster , strutting his stuff around the hen house, while all the girls sat in their nests looking all dreamy eyed.
Ok, maybe it is a bit of a stretch, but you have to admit this is a really great looking old copper weathervane. Yes it has some of the typical problems that go along with its age. The solder joint on the front of his back leg has come apart a bit and his front foot isn’t anchored to the cross bar like it was back in his early days. Even the poor old fellow’s tail feathers are a bit loose for a few inches where they are seamed onto his body, but on the plus side, just look how distinguished he’s gotten with age. Not to mention the deep, rich patina that’s formed as time passed on by. In other words, I wouldn’t think it a wise idea to fasten him high up on a roof somewhere without first having him undergo a bit of repair to his hot tin joints, but if your idea of a new home for our old friend falls along lines of a less demanding lifestyle for this grand old bird, he is plenty tough enough to fill the need.

Construction = two heavy sheets of copper, formed and matched into a full bodied, hollow figure of a rooster, hot tin soldered together and mounted on a pipe frame by means of soldering.

Measurements = 16 wide by 21 tall by 3 thick where largest.

Age = No way to be absolutely certain, but judging by his weight and the aging of the copper, he is likely at least 40 to 50 years old. Perhaps more.

Antique. Copper Running Horse Weather vane - Old This gorgeous old copper horse has an incredible color and patina that only the passing years can create. There are no names or markings to identify the maker of this large copper horse, but he is almost twice as heavy as those reproduction vanes we have all seen out there. One thing is for sure. They do not have the same character as this fine original piece. Based on his weight, and the way he was put together, I believe this horse was hand made by a skilled coppersmith sometime between the early 1900's and WWII. His birthday is likely closer to the early 1900's than to the war, but without any more to go on than is at hand, that is about as close as I can get to establishing his age. The horse is nearly 30 inches long and without the stand, is already near two feet high. Including the stand and directional unit, our friend measures almost five feet from top to bottom. A very impressive piece of early folk art that would surely gather more than a little attention from those who are fortunate enough to see this lovely running horse.

Great Antique Copper Running Horse Weathervane Figure I guarantee this great copper horse to be at least 50 years old, and likely more. Classic, highly detailed, large copper weathervane horse still firmly attached to his mounting rods. I'm sure this old fellow has seen his share of rough times and even has a few scars to prove it, but doesn't he look great anyway? I think so and I hope you do to. The full bodied figure is made of two pieces of heavy copper that was tin soldered together and mounted on a copper base rod. The rod measures 30 inches long and our friend Mr. Horse is 15 inches high. I've included some pictures to show the fine craftsmanship and detail in the work. I think you can tell just from these places that this is a real antique vane figure. A little beat up, a great age patina and still ready to run, this is a classic folk art weathervane horse that can only get better with time.

SALE ! 1890's Copper Eagle Weathervane ! Original ! What a great old weathervane. Picker's is happy to offer this wonderful late 19th century copper weathervane that features a perching Eagle. This piece is in excellent condition, with no bullet holes, large dents, or abrasions. Sure there are some dings and dents and bruises, but you'd have some too if you lived on somebody's rooftop for over 100 years. <smile> The directionals are in great shape and are made of flat iron. The ball is copper as is the shaft. The eagle has a wonderful patina, and is guaranteed authentic. It measures a whopping 27" wide, and 49" tall, including the antique iron roof mount which makes a great stand.
This price is far below what I have seen several similar old eagle vanes sell for both online and at live auctions, plus it’s on sale right now.
