1860's Spang & Wallace SxS Double Barrel Shotgun 12Ga. Early 12 gauge double barrel hammer type percussion shotgun that is marked on the right lock with the maker's name, Spang & Wallace. The gun is in very good condition and is fully functional,with tight springs and a strong lock-up. Both locks and hammers are engraved, and I believe the right hammer has been replaced. The metal finish is a nice plum brown with some pitting on the 31" steel barrels. There is also a lot of engraving on the trigger guard, tang and butt plate. The walnut stock has a nice original finish with nice checkering at the wrist and there are no cracks or damage. This is a very good looking early percussion shotgun that will make a great display piece.

A hard to find Charles Daly 10 gauge double barrel hammergun that is set up for use as a coach gun. This heavy old antique SxS still locks up tight and has the crisp mechanical feel and sound only found in a high end gun like this. I wouldn't have wanted to be the this big 10 gauge was aimed at. The barrels measure 18 3/4 inches and have a few ragged edges at the very tip of the muzzle, but considering the gun's age, it's mechanics are still tight and smooth. The barrels are marked Charles Daly - Laminated Steel on the center rib and the 3 iron Damascus twist pattern of their construction is very easy to distinguish. The other metal parts are engraved with a fine. thin line design and both lock plates bear the name, Charles Daly. The hammers match and function nicely, but seem to be old replacements and the stock is still in very good condition with no visible breaks or areas of heavy wear damage. Bores are a bit pitted, but will polish up nicely and should come out bright and shiny. As thick as they are at the breech, I think with the right loads, this would be a fine shooter. A rare and really impressive old stage coach hammergun that will make a terrific addition to someone's collection.
