312trnbl1

early 1900's brass mechanical doorbell w/ turn - works This cute little mechanical doorbell might not have a maker's name or patent date like some of the bells we have in our store, but it works as good as any of them and sounds just as sweet too. A three and a half inch, medium sized brass turn bell, the clear, crisp tone of the old brass bell makes a person wonder why we ever gave these up for the electric ones to begin with. Like all of our Victorian doorbells, this one has been tested and is guaranteed ready to install and use. Not only does it work, it is really easy to install. Drill one hole for the turn shaft, put two screws in the bell mount and two more in the turn mount and kazam!! You're ready to ring your new antique turn bell. Now that's what I call a great gift idea.....

Gorgeous Antique Hand Turn Door Bell - Sargent 1897 A very fancy antique cast iron and brass mechanical door bell made by Sargent Company of New Britain Ct. Based on the design and other items we have handled that were made by Sargent, I am estimating this bell to be between 95 and 115 years old. The bell is a very unique piece, made with clock like internal parts, it is manually operated by turning a key-like devise that would be mounted on the outside of your main door, directly opposite the bell part of the piece, which mounts on the inside. This was removed from an old New England estate and has a good amount of very nice age patina on the face and is in excellent mechanical condition. Very detailed and ornate, the piece measures five inches wide and has a three and one half inch diameter bell. Included is the ornate brass key device used to ring the bell. It is not original to this bell, but fits and works correctly and is a good match in appearance and quality to this bell. The key devise came from the same estate. We will include a copy of our easy to understand, DIY installation instructions with each bell we sell and remember that Picker's tests all of our mechanical doorbells to be certain they are in good working order and ready for you to install and use as soon as they arrive.

Great sounding Brass & Tin Thumb Turn Doorbell - old Don't let the size of this brass bell fool you into thinking it isn't what you will need. Although the brass bell is only three inches across, it rings as clear and strong as bells twice its size. The brass bell is attached to a tin mounting frame which has a very simple, yet effective strike arm that is activated when a visitor turns the old thumb turn handle from outside your door. This bell has been repaired and is in wonderful working condition. Install it in about a half an hour with nothing more than a lightweight drill and a few screws. We want you to come back to Picker's time after time and we want you to be pleased with your purchase so you will tell your friends about us. 1890 Pat'd Russell & Erwin Wind Up push button Doorbell Here is a really neat old late 1800's mechanical doorbell. This large and quite loud on iron bell was made by Russell & Erwin of New Britain Conn. and has a patent date of October 21, 1890. Unlike many of these old Victorian bells you may see for sale, which often are missing a part internally, are broken, or do not have the correct type of operator needed in order to actually work, all the bells we sell at Picker's have been tested and are ready to install and use as soon as you get them. If they are not working , we won't list them. This bell has a fancy brass button plate and when your visitor's press the button, the pressure activates a spring loaded rod that releases the bell lock and causes the bell to ring for as long as they are holding in on the button. You might think the bell would need to be wound up all the time, but actually it lasted at our shop for days without needing to be wound, even though my 3 year old grandson could not keep his fingers off the button for more than a few minutes at a time. I'm pretty sure that if it outlasted Remy, it will outlast anyone.
All set up to install on a standard two inch thick exterior door. With only one hole to drill and 5 screws to hold both the bell and the button plate in place, almost anyone can install this great antique door bell in a half hour or less..... Really.

51872fbp

Fancy Solid Brass Victorian Doorbell. Pat. 1872 Here is an extraordinary find. This gorgeous Victorian mechanical doorbell has been repaired and restored to its original working condition. I'll tell you this; none of those electronic doorbells at the big box store can come close to duplicating the marvelous quality sound of this antique bell.
This bell mounts on the inside of your door and connects to a very simple 'Pull' mechanism that is attached to the outside of your door. When a visitor pulls the ceramic and brass trimmed handle, the bell rings and then quickly resets so it is to ring again. The pull knob is spring-loaded and was actually put together from old parts and pieces of other vintage bells in order to make this fine looking doorbell functional once again. The back of the bell frame has patent dates from the year 1872.
Full installation instructions accompany all our bells and if you have a problem, we'll be glad to help. Why buy a pretty old bell that doesn't work? Buy one that you can use and show off at the same time.

3p5trnbel

Antique Hand Crafted Mechanical Doorbell C1868 Here is another very old and very fancy brass Victorian mechanical doorbell that has been repaired and restored to full working condition. The brass bell measures three and a half inches across and has the legend, Patented August 11, 1868 cut into the face. The back plate also bears patent dates. We have reworked some of the old pieces and used other old pieces to make replacement parts to restore this marvelous old bell to full working order. This is a turn bell and it mounts on the inside of your door. The operating handle attaches to the bell by way of a hole cut through the door and is set on the outside where it can easily be used by any visitor to announce their arrival simply by turning the handle in either direction. This is a simple yet very effective design and the handle itself was put together using other old hardware pieces to fashion a suitable handle for working this bell.
