vintage hand made whirligigs were once as common as are cell phones in these days. Hand carved, designed, painted and devised by everyday American craftsmen and women, these wind driven creations are as much a part of our country's past as apple pie and freedom.

Old Folk Art Wooden Whirligig . Lady churning butter
Here we have a great old handmade wooden Whirligig. This classic piece of Americana is driven by the wind, so as the paddles spin, the lady in the long dress sets to work churning butter. I am fairly sure the paddles have been replaced, and spray painted yellow; which also left a trace of over-spray on the green mast, but the woman and her churn and the original design of this neat old whirligig remain in tact and are ready to bring a smile to someone's face once more. 18 inches long and roughly 14 inches tall.
Circa: 1940's
Condition: Antique. Refurbished.
