Condition: good - used - antique Manufacturer: American - hand made Here is a very nice looking old Rooster Weathervane and white ribbed glass lightning rod ball that likely date to the time period between World Wars I and II. Time has caused the two piece hollow copper body of our large rooster to change into a lovely reddish brown age patina that fortunately has been left undisturbed by the previous owner. The bird itself measures 22 inches wide by over 20 inches tall and is over three inches thick at his widest parts. The tin solder that was used to join his two piece body together remains in very sound condition and with one foot and the center rod still firmly attached to the base rod, I don'y think old Mr. Rooster is going to come loose from his perch any time soon. The white ribbed ball measures 4 1/2 inches round and is also an early, original lightning rod accessory.

| There are some areas of roughness and very minor damage to the edges where the copper post goes through the center, but otherwise the ball has no sign of cracks and comes with two copper end caps that cover the damage completely as well as protect the ends from any further problems. Mr. Picker found the great old tin hanging light cover we have pictured which he matched it up as the base for this great old folk art sculpture, however if you would prefer a traditional three legged iron lightning rod roof stand for the base, we have that pictured as well and will supply which ever you prefer at the same price. Just let us know. All together our wonderful copper Rooster vane stands 39 inches high and no matter if you display this old bird inside or out, he is sure to be admired by firends, neighbore and family for many years to come. |
