Condition: C-9 Excellent Manufacturer: Lionel Vintage Lionel train set # 06-1865 The Chesapeake Flyer, in the original box from 1979 I am grading this set at C9, but to tell the truth, I don’t think the train was ever put on the tracks.

The box is scuffed and worn, but other than some very slight smudges from handling the cars, there is no indication the train was ever set up. This was one of the premium sets of the day, featuring an 8800 die cast metal steam engine with smoke and headlight and more than enough power to easily pull its tender and five car load. For some reason the bridge set is missing and so is the original transformer. I am including a new Lionel 30 watt transformer with sound activation controls with this set, so it comes ready to run with everything you need to see and hear the Lionel Mighty Sound of Steam. The tender contains the sound effects, which is synchronized to match the speed and the puffing smoke effect from the engine. The tracks are all still in the box as well as the signposts and canisters that go onto the open hauler unit. The smoke fluid is not in the box, but because it is flammable, it would cost more to ship than it will cost to buy locally anyway. If you want to put a train under the tree this year, here is a chance to own a classic antique set with a die cast metal engine for less than you’d pay for a new set with a plastic locomotive. Plus this is already an antique Lionel set, so take care of it and it will keep going up in value. How’s that for a great deal. A gift that’s not only a great investment, you'll have loads of fun too.
