Here are the first of what I hope will be many more offerings from this very talented local artist. Yes, I know Santa figurines are available everywhere. Most are mass-produced and sell for almost nothing. Others really are one of a kind, well made pieces, but few compare to the skill displayed in these Santa’s. This set of three, four-inch tall Santa Clause figurines began as raw; mold formed pottery, or green ware. After being cleaned, each piece is beautifully painted by hand, so no two pieces are ever exactly the same. Finally when the paint is ready, the piece is placed into a kiln and heated to incredibly high temperatures. All of this painstaking work is done by a single artist who also happens to be our very good friend
C. Keck.
As these figures clearly show, Ms. Keck is highly skilled in the art of fine detail. It is as though her touch has somehow imparted each of these figures with it's own individual personality. If I had a month to paint each separate piece, I could not even come close to matching the skill of this artist and best of all, these pieces are only the beginning.
