Condition: vintage - as found Manufacturer: unknown - vintage What an excellent looking old tin Rooster. This fellow has lost all but the faintest traces of what must have been his original paint, but looks great with the time worn patina earned through years of strutting across some rooftop in all sorts of weather. I would guess this old bird probably dates to about the 1950's or early 60's, but because he is the only one of this design I have ever seen, it is pretty much impossible to specifically pinpoint his age. The Rooster is slightly loose on his perch, but rather than risk damaging this fine looking fellow, we decided he was more than sturdy enough and left him attached to the mounting bar as found.

Including his rusted iron stand, this Rooster stands about 40 inches high and is 23 inches from tail to the tip of the copper mount. I would not want to guarantee just how long he might remain on his perch should he be placed back outside on a roof top, but if used for decoration or displayed as primitive art, I see no reason why this bird would ever wish to leave his familiar perch. |
