Condition: New - OB Manufacturer: Lionel Trains
If you want a really great train under your tree this Christmas, here is one we know you'll love. The General by Lionel is a replica of the old steam engines that once huffed and puffed their way across the American frontier during the 1800's. This train is a replica of engine number 213 which belonged to the famed Union Pacific Railroad. The bright red color of the locomotive could be seen from miles away and great plumes of smoke poured from her stack as she pulled her load of cars down tracks that slashed strait through the mountains of California and cut a path across the desserts of the great southwest. This set is brand new except for a couple of trips around the tracks here at our shop, just to make sure we had everything figured out and new how the stuff worked in case someone were to need our help later. The engine and tender came together in the same box and still have their papers and their fancy blue Lionel ribbons with them in the box. This engine features a three-position switch, traction wheels, a working headlight and even makes smoke - Lots of smoke! (You’ll need to get some smoke fluid because the little bottle we had planned to send along in the box is flammable and can't go out in the regular mail. Anybody that sells trains in your area will have lots of it, so check them out. The tender matches the engine's color and has a great looking woodpile replica load on its back. The next two pieces are ones we chose especially for this set. The first is the Union Pacific Pony Express car, which has a fantastic train whistle, built right in. The car is exactly like the ones pulled by the trains in California back in the 1800's. Next in line is the matching Union Pacific Caboose, which not only has a lighted interior, it smokes too. There is a chimney to replicate a wood stove inside and the smoke comes out the stack on the roof. I can tell you first hand, when this train is puffing down the track, she is a sight to see and hear. That's why we think this is such a great set. Of course you'll need to have track and a power transformer so you can make this baby go. We have a limited supply of track and transformers, so if you'll tell us the size of the area you have in which to set up your train, we'll let you know what we have available. If for some reason we can't fix you up with what you need, we'll be glad to find you someone trustworthy who can. All these great pieces of Union Pacific Railroad replicas are made by Lionel and one thing I can tell you for sure, if you take care of these trains, they will prove as good as any investment you'll likely find, plus this comes with loads of fun right inside the box!
