The property and its contents were recently sold at auction and we were fortunate enough to purchase a pair of these gorgeous mechanical doorbells. The bell is nearly like new, with just a few spots of light discoloration due to it having been in a damp store room for so long. As Twist Door Bell's go, this is a very nice one. The brass is heavy and highly decorated and the bell is large and has a wonderful full sounding ring tone. There was a time when these gorgeous old brass turn bells could be found on nearly everyone’s front door and I can't help but wonder why we ever though replacing them with electric bells was a good idea in the first place. The bell measures 4 inches wide and measures 5-1/2 inches long to the ends of the decoratively scrolled mounting flanges. The ringer mechanism will accommodate up to a 2 inch thick door. Remember how everyone asked to be the one to ring the bell? This fine bell would make a very special gift for someone special to you. |
