The fruit, red ripe, crisp apples makes me want to eat one every time I see this still life. His choice of background coloring is as complex as it is beautiful. To me it is a perfect image, the likes of which one would find hanging on the wall as you enter a huge country kitchen that has been owned by the same family since the times when our nation was fresh and new and filled with the glory and beauty of a perfect summer.
