Here is an extraordinary find. This gorgeous Victorian mechanical doorbell has been repaired and restored to its original working condition. I'll tell you this; none of those electronic doorbells at the big box store can come close to duplicating the marvelous quality sound of this antique bell.
This bell mounts on the inside of your door and connects to a very simple 'Pull' mechanism that is attached to the outside of your door. When a visitor pulls the ceramic and brass trimmed handle, the bell rings and then quickly resets so it is to ring again.

The pull knob is spring-loaded and was actually put together from old parts and pieces of other vintage bells in order to make this fine looking doorbell functional once again. The back of the bell frame has patent dates from the year 1872.
