| For some collectors, the North American Loon is the water bird of choice when it comes to home decorating. Sleeker and much more streamline than the common duck, the Loon has a distinctive profile and that seems to have a universal appeal. This particular North American Loon figure happens to be a vintage painted weather vane top and is rarely found offered for sale. The arrow and Loon are a one piece casting made from pot metal, which still has the majority of its original paint. There is some flaking and roughness, but for a water bird of this type made quite a number of years back, this Loon is in remarkably good condition. The arrow measures 18 inches from tip to tail and can be displayed just as is for a simple wall mounting, or we offer an antique cast pot metal roof mount that we will adapt for use with this vane.
