Want to know what hooked me for life on the Colt SA Army revolvers? The sound when you pull back the trigger. No other pistol in the world can duplicate that bone chillingly unmistakable sound. None. Only the Peacemaker and to shave it down a little closer, only the original, true antique, first generation, pre 1898 black powder Colt Peace Maker has the exact sound that hooked me all those years ago. If you are a Colt lover, you already know what I mean. If not, listen sometime and you will. What I have to offer here is a bit of a mystery to me and quite a few others I have talked to. We all are sure it is a Colt SAA, not a well done copy, but in order for the 3 digit frame number to be correct, it means the barrel and cylinder were changed. The barrel markings and caliber are from sometime after 1878, but still before 1898 so still antique. Perhaps this done to have the gun converted to 38 WCF caliber, or perhaps something happened to the old barrel that forced the change. Please look closely at the photos. Normally I have a policy of accepting returns, but this is such an unusal combination of repairs; ( see photo of back strap and cylinder pin screws and left strap screw hole, lack of markings and others that are barely legible. For all these reasons I am willing to sell this old Colt SAA Single Action Army at a price well below what similar Colts would bring, but I also will not be accepting any returns on this particular Colt and that is for all the reasons I just sighted. Funny thing is this, the action is very nice and other than being just a tad weak on the lockup, I am quite please by the feel, timing and yes, the sound of this strange but still very nice looking Colt Peace Maker
Please be ready to supply proof that you are at least 21 years of age if you plan to buy this gun. Also check your state laws regarding handguns. Remember, in the eyes of the Federal Government, this gun is a true antique and does not require all the paperwork that comes with buying a modern pistol, but some states do not agree, so check your to be certain. |
