Here is an original Civil War relic issued to it's soldiers by the Confederate State of South Carolina. The buckle has a great looking age patina and based on the quality of the stamping details, was likely produced in the early days of the Civil War. I have been trying all sorts of different camera exposures in an effort to determine if the marks I show in photo number three are someone's initials, or just my eyes playing tricks on me. I think I'll stick with the former. This buckle was part of a very extensive collection of Civil War pieces that obviously took the original owner most of his life to gather together. I have quite a good selection of different pieces from this collection listed and will from time to time be adding more to the shop. I think there were only two pieces in this entire collection in quantities of two. For the most part the items I have to offer from this collector are the only one I have, so if you like something, please don't wait too long to buy it, or someone may beat you to it. The Confederate pieces I are especially hard to come by and when they are gone, they are more than likely gone for good. I'm offering a number of these rare finds at Sale Prices and in most cases all of these old accoutrements also give you the bonus of Free shipping inside the USA; buyers outside the US, please ask me for a shipping quote. |
