Circa: 1900 to 1910 Condition: used. antique. good Color: White with Gold Trim Country of Origin: United States Manufacturer: Edwin M Knowles Author: Knowles Edition: 1
This is a lovely white with gold trim wash set from the very early 1900's. The set includes a large wash basin that measures 16 inches in diameter by 4 1/2 inches tall. The large pitcher stands 12 inches tall and there is also a small 8 inch high water pitcher, 5 inch tall toothbrush holder and a shaving mug that is just shy of 4 inches high. These pieces all bear the same markings as used by Edwin M Knowles China Co. in the early 1900's. Some of the pieces have heavier crazing than the others and I believe this had to do with the way the sun's rays likely fell on certain pieces day after day, while missing others. There is an area of about 3 by 2 inches on the side of the large pitcher that has either been very professionally repaired, or shows the faint trace imperfection from the firing. I would never have seen it had I not been told about the mark by the previous owner. A rare find that will add it's own special elegance, beauty and charm its new home.
