Antique Johnson Brothers 5-Pc Semi Porcelain Wash Stand
Early 20th Century Johnson Brothers England Royal Semi-Porcelain 5-piece wash stand set.
A very scarce and wonderful set with a beautiful pattern in matte finish, with all items having a pale yellow background, and decorations of flowers, leaves, and scrolls in soft colors. Both pitchers also feature hand painted touches of gold leaf designs.
The interiors and handles of all pieces are glazed, and the majority of the pieces have a lovely scalloped rim with gold trim.
This set consists of the following:
* Very large water pitcher for washing. Stands 10 1/2" to rim, or 11 1/2" to top of spout. 8 1/2" wide, and a circumference of 26 1/2". This piece weighs 4 lbs 7 oz. Very good condition. Some fading to the gold trim on rim and handle.
* Water pitcher for drinking. Stands 6 1/2". Pitcher has a 1/2" under the glaze crack at rim; (see photo); and some fading of the gold trim.
* Drinking Cup. Stands 3 1/2" and is 3 3/8" wide. Some fading of the gold trim.
* Covered soap dish with drain dish insert. Stands 4" high and is 5 3/4" wide. This piece has heavy crazing, and the bottom dish with heavy staining. Some fading of the gold trim.
* Chamber pot with lid. Single handle. Stands 5" to rim and 8 3/4 " wide, with a 28" circumference. Chamber pot has a large, 1 1/4" x 1/2" chip at rim. Lid has a hairline near center and a chip on underside edge of rim. (See last set of photos.) Some fading of the gold trim. Very heavy piece. Chamber pot weighs 5 lbs 2 oz.
This is a remarkable, and rare, antique wash stand set from England! Circa 1900+. It is just short a basin bowl of being a complete set. The pattern and colors are absolutely wonderful!
