Noritake lavender lusterware basket with hand painted cherries. The exterior of this lovely basket is painted in two shades of lavender. The background is a soft tone highlighted by a scattering of brushed-on strokes in a deeper shade. The basket's beauty is then enhanced by its opalescent luster finish.
A beautiful design of ripe, red cherries, blossoms and leaves are hand painted over the glaze on the basket's interior. The coloring is wonderful -- making the cherries appear so life-like...and so mouth-watering!
Framing the basket is a pretty, 1/4 inch wide gold, wavy rim.
This basket was produced by Noritake, and was made in Japan. It is marked with Noritake's red mark, with the M in the wreath, for the Morimura Brothers.
Size: 3 1/2 inches tall to handle; 7 3/8 inches long by 5 1/2 inches wide.
Condition: Very good; some minor paint loss on one of the blossoms, and a flake off one cherry stem. |
