This item is an unusually carved wooden plate with a hand-painted scene commemorating the surrender of the Germans in Norway on May 11th, 1945. The legend, seen underneath the figures, reads Heimestyrkene overtar Akerhus festning 11 Mai 1945 Two German Nazi Officers are seen surrendering to a man in traditional Norwegian costume. No other text or identification is present. Overall dimensions are 14.5 inches [37cm] by 11.25 inches [29cm]. Depth is 2 inches [5cm]. Weight, 600g unpacked. Painting is in VG condition. There is a little flaking to the painted trees in the upper portion. No further damage. Condition: Not Mint but Very Good. Hope to have more info on this soon.
