Bing and Grondahl 1988 Christmas plate.... 'Hans Christian Andersen in the Kings Garden' or 'The Old Poet's Christmas' Motif of this plate Designed by Edward Jensen. 1 name on the listing & 1 different on the COA. It is 7 1/8 in. across. The back has the 3 towers B&G logo and there are 2 holes that you can loop a cord or wire through for hanging. Original Certificate, boxes and papers. The Christmas Plate or 'Juleplatte' stems from an ancient Danish Tradition, transformed into fine porcelain by Harald Bing in 1895. Originally, the Christmas Plates were a gesture of thanks presented by Danish Nobility to their servants at Christmas time. It was the thought of immortalizing this 'gesture of thanks' in fine porcelain that has given the world a beautiful symbol of Christmas Spirit as well as the wonderful hobby of plate collecting, enjoyed by millions today. (Not Really A B&G Plate, but listed here to help folks find it easier...)Royal Copenhagen Bing & Grondahl 1895 1908 Maria and Her Child Commemorative from 1987. Here is one fabulous collector's plate made to mark the historic union of the world renowned Royal Copenhagen & Bing & Grondahl porcelain houses, Denmark. The image is a merge of the highly collectible first Christmas plates from both Bing & Grondahl (1895) and Royal Copenhagen (1908). Produced in a limited edition only in 1987 & marked on the back with both factories' hallmark, it's the only item symbolizing the partnership. With no date or text on the front, it measures about 21 cm. or 8 1/2 inches across & is first factory quality, handpainted by 'H'. This 1 no box or paperwork.
