Superb Jasperware Wedgwood Tenth 10th Anniversary Christmas Plate (diameter 9.5 inches).
The first Decade of production of this yearly series was marked by the issue of this limited Commemorative plate produced only during 1978; the original mould was destroyed in December. The plates are Blue & White Jasper plate.

The subject of the '69 plate, Windsor Castle, is in the center - encircled by an embossed commemorative inscription: 'Tenth Anniversary, 1969-1978, Christmas' and garland of holly leaves. Forming a deep border design are cameos of the nine landmarks featured on the plates issued for the years 1970 to 1978, framed by holly garlands.
On the reverse of this unique plate, a deep blue backstamp incorporates the names of the subjects depicted in relief in order of annual issue: Windsor Castle, Christmas in Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, St. Paul's Cathedral, The Tower of London, The Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge, Hampton Court, Westminister Abbey, Horse Guards in Shitehall.
The inaugural Wedgwood Christmas plate, issued in 1969, was the first item to be made by an English ceramic company in celebration of the Christian festival.
Each year the Wedgwood plate has been decorated with a finely modelled white Jasper bas-relief of a famous landmark in or close to London, and the design has always incorporated an embossed date motif and relief border of holly leaves. The names of the landmarks are in a gold backstamp on the reverse of the plate. op $ US???
