Synopsis: This concert video captures perhaps the greatest show band in rock and roll: the Grateful Dead. Here the group appears in their 1976 concert at the San Francisco's Winterland Arena. Among the songs they play are: 'One More Saturday Night,' 'Truckin', 'Sugar Magnolia,' 'Ripple,' 'Playing in the Band,' 'Casey Jones' and the classic Chuck Berry tune, 'Johnny B. Goode.'
Description Filmed during the Grateful Dead's 1974 tour, Leon Gast's iconic documentary features Gary Gutierrez's hallucinatory animation interspersed with concert footage of the band performing classics such as Truckin',Stella Blue,Casey Jones, and Sugar Magnolia. Filmmaker Gast--who went on to lens the acclaimed HELL'S ANGELS FOREVER (1983) and the Oscar-winning WHEN WE WERE KINGS (1996)--also goes behind the scenes with the band and interviews many fans in an ambitious effort to capture the complete Dead experience.
