Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. This is the first book to be devoted to British Ironstone China and the related stone china and granite ceramic bodies. This important and wide-ranging Godden's Guide follows and complements the acclaimed Godden's Guide to Mason's China and the Ironstone Wares, explaining the rise and development of British ironstone china and the related stone china and granite wares. Chapters are devoted to Mason's Patent Ironstone China and the large auction sales of surplus stock in 1818 and 1822 The major portion of this book - Chapter VI - gives details of some three hundred and fifty British manufacturers of ironstone-type wares, their working periods and basic marks. Many of these firms and partnerships have not previously been noted or researched. The three appendices include lists of manufacturers' initial marks and trade names, the registered ironstone shapes and the British ironstone manufacturers working in 1885 and 1900. An interesting late Victorian illustrated trade catalogue is also discussed and salient points highlighted. This unique Godden Guide fills one of the last voids in ceramic literature and research and will be of the utmost interest and assistance to collectors, dealers and auctioneers the world over.
